Germany have failed to live up to expectations in their recent friendly matches.
Former Germany international believes Germany can still beat any opponent despite their recent run in the UEFA Nations League.
Following a fantastic start under Hansi Flick last year, Germany have failed to live up to their standard in recent matches.
Die Mannschaft suffered a surprise defeat against Hungary before drawing 3-3 against England on Monday. Having won only one of their six Nations League games, Flick’s side finished third in Group A3.
The team’s defensive form has drawn criticism ahead of the World Cup. However, Boateng urges the German fans to take a positive approach to the upcoming tournament.
“Shortly before the World Cup we have 80 million national coaches again,” the German defender wrote in an Instagram story.
“We have a strong team, we can beat any opponent and become world champions. We have young players in all positions.
“How about approaching the World Cup in a positive way and not criticising the team and bringing in unrest?
“Stay positive and support the team together. After the World Cup you can add your two cents again.”
Germany will face Oman before traveling to Qatar for their World Cup campaign. Flick’s side will compete against Japan, Spain, and Costa Rica in Group E of the tournament.
