The Ghana legend believes the Super Eagles have the quality to win the World Cup qualifying tie.

Nigeria will face Ghana in the third and final round of the African World Cup qualifiers in March. Both sides hope to bounce back from their underwhelming Africa Cup of Nations campaigns.

Nigeria started the tournament in perfect form, winning all of their group-stage games. However, they suffered a shock defeat against Tunisia in the last-16 round.

Ghana, however, had a far worse tournament. The Black Stars failed to win any of their matches in the group stage and finished at the bottom of the table. Following their AFCON disaster, the Ghanaian FA have appointed a new interim manager and backroom staff to prepare for the crucial battle against Nigeria.

In a new interview, Super Eagles legend Jay-Jay Okocha has spoken about the upcoming game.

“Ghana versus Nigeria match is never an easy one,” the former PSG star said (via allAfrica).

“It is more about the rivalry, it is a pride match and a bragging right one,

“For me, what is most important is to get the ticket. It doesn’t matter how, even if we don’t play beautiful football, what is important is getting the ticket to the World Cup in Qatar. It is the result that matters.”

He added: “We have a very good team. We just don’t have to judge Super Eagles with the Tunisian match at the last AFCON in Cameroon. We have to review all the matches they played and take the positive and correct the negatives if there were any.

“For me, the signs are there that we have the team to take us to where we want to be in global football.”

Nigeria will travel to Ghana for the first tie of the qualifier on March 23. The Super Eagles will then host the second leg six days later.
