Jadon Sancho has commented on his current life at Borussia Dortmund following a slow start to the season.
Sancho was a subject of a wild transfer saga involving Manchester United throughout the entire summer. The Red Devils were hell-bent on making the 20-year-old their marquee summer signing.
Indeed, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side reportedly had a verbal agreement with the player over a safe passage to Old Trafford. However, United’s final £90million bid fell £18m short of Dortmund’s £108m valuation, which saw the deal collapse.
Former Manchester City youth academy graduate has eventually remained in North Rhine-Westphalia. But, everything that happened to him in the past five months has left a mark.
Influenced by continuous transfer speculations, Sancho has overseen a dip in form and witnessed his role in the team dwindle.
Sancho has endured a stuttering start to the season despite adding three goals and four assists to his name already. It’s been quite daunting for him to find his footing following a turbulent summer.
Yet, it seems the rising star is on course of re-establishing himself as a permanent fixture in Lucien Favre’s team.
The Englishman was on target as Borussia Dortmund swept aside Club Brugge 3-0 at the Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday night.
Sancho has shown how much that goal means to him, taking to Twitter to express his delight.
Sancho has also admitted he feels support from everyone at the club, insisting he is entirely focused on rediscovering his mojo.
“I am just happy that I am playing,” he said, as relayed by Express Sport.
“I have coaches and teammates that believe in me. Recently, it’s been a hard situation for me.
“But it’s all about how I come back and have performances like this. They will hopefully get me back to the top, how I was playing before.”
Manchester United have not dropped their interest in Sancho and will reportedly be looking to make a new offer in the future.
Encouraged by the fact they have the player’s consent, Ed Woodward and Co are devising a new strategy to convince Dortmund to green-light the move.
