Thomas Frank has confirmed Ivan Toney’s status for Brentford’s upcoming Premier League game and gave a transfer update on the striker.

Ivan Toney will play and captain the team in Brentford’s game against Nottingham Forest, according to manager Thomas Frank.

After an eight-month ban, Toney is set to make his comeback on Saturday. The striker returns to an injury-hit Bees. He will wear the skipper’s armband in the absence of captain Christian Norgaard, who is injured

“He will start tomorrow,” Frank said at a press conference on Friday about Toney.

“He will be the captain. I asked him if he wanted to start, and he of course said ‘yes’.

“It’s at home, under the floodlights, and he will just thrive in that environment. I think it’s quite obvious that, at this moment in time, we need him.”

Frank is over ‘99%’ certain the striker won’t leave

During an interview with Sky Sports this week, Toney revealed he harbors hopes of playing for a ‘top club’. He didn’t rule a January transfer out either amid reports of interest from Arsenal and Chelsea.

“It is 99 point something [per cent clear] that Ivan will stay here,” Frank said on the transfer speculation.

“But football is crazy, so you never know what is going to happen tomorrow. He is very committed to helping the team.”
