Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s agent, Mino Raiola, has announced the star hasn’t agreed on a new deal with AC Milan and insists ‘it’s not about money’.

Reports emerged from Sky Sport Italia last week claiming that Ibrahimovic was close to agreeing on a deal to stay with AC Milan next season, citing an announcement could be made on Monday.

The 38-year-old’s contract expires at the end of this month, but Milan allegedly have an option to extend it for another season. It’s understood, however, they want something more permanent.

The Rossoneri have reportedly tabled a two-year deal for Zlatan worth around €6m-per-season plus performance-related bonuses. Although the Swede is holding out for €7m instead.

This turn of events means that Zlatan won’t report back for pre-season training on Monday, with Raiola urging Milan’s owners Elliott Management to look to the sporting side of things.

“He won’t be there tomorrow, for the moment,” the renown football agent told Sky Sport Italia.

“We are still talking, but there is no agreement yet. It’s not about money, but of conviction and style. It takes two to make a marriage work and if Ibrahimovic didn’t want to remain with the Rossoneri, then there wouldn’t be a negotiation.

“Elliott have to make choices, different ones. They know how to make decisions in the financial world, but need to learn how to make them in the sporting world too.

“We are in a very sensitive phase of the negotiations and I don’t wish to say more. I am always optimistic. I don’t work to create problems, but to find solutions.”
