Dean Henderson is hoping to earn international recognition as he looks forward to making his senior debut for England.
On Wednesday, Gareth Southgate named the England national team squad for the upcoming Nations League games against Iceland and Denmark.
Three Manchester United made the cut in Southgate’s team – Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood, and Dean Henderson.
Harry Maguire was initially included in the 25-man squad but was later withdrawn after he was found guilty of charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, and repeated attempts of bribery following an incident on the Greek island of Syros.
Henderson, along with Mason Greenwood, Manchester City’s Phil Foden, and Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips, is an uncapped player in the team.
The goalkeeper recently signed a long-term deal with Man United following a productive loan spell at Sheffield United in 2019/20.
“Ah yeah, 100 percent. Obviously, to play for England as well, as I say, it would be a very special moment for myself and that’s something I’ve always wanted to do as well,” Henderson replied on the official club website when asked if he’s eager to represent his national side.
“If I get the nod there, that would be outstanding. I’m just going to keep working hard and I’m sure my time will come.”
