Let’s take a look at the player ratings from the FIFA Women’s World Cup match between Italy and Argentina at Eden Park.

Italy and Argentina kicked off their 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup campaigns on Monday. They met at Eden Park, each hoping to start with a bang.

The pressure was on for both teams going into the Group G game in Auckland. Italy arrived plotting to get their bid for a second straight knockout appearance started in style. Argentina, though, weren’t going to make things easy for the match favorites.

The South Americans did just that, holding their opponents goalless for much of the match. However, with only three minutes to spare, Italy struck gold. Cristiana Girelli headed in an 87th-minute goal to grab a vital victory. The substitute’s winner moved Italy into second place in Group G with three points, behind leaders Sweden on goal difference.

Italy will next meet the Swedes in a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday in Wellington. In the other Group G game, Argentina will face South Africa in Dunedin on Friday.
