The Azzurri, who are now unbeaten in 30 straight games across all competitions, finish the group stage with a perfect record.

Italy yet again impressed in Euro 2020 matchday 3 as they collected all three points with a 1-0 win over Wales.

Italy took to the pitch at Stadio Olimpico having already qualified for the last-16 of the tournament, but they did not let complacency kick in.

Matteo Pessina proved to the match-winner, with the AtalantaĀ midfielder flicking in a right-footed volley six minutes before half-time to ensure the hosts go into the break with the lead.

Wales’ troubles compounded when Ethan Ampadu, rather harshly, was given his marching orders for a late tackle on Federico Bernardeschi. However, they somehow managed to keep the opposition attackers at back for the remainder of the match.

Wales remain at second place in Group A after the defeat, tied on points with Switzerland. They can now look forward to playing Group B’s runners-up for a second-round match next Saturday.

Italy, meanwhile, will go against Group C’s second-best team at Wembley on the same day.
