Thiago Silva apologizes to the fans for the disappointment in the Champions League final, which was also his last game for the club.
Paris Saint-Germain defender Silva has celebrated many joyous moments throughout his eight-year spell at the club, but last night was not one of them.
Silva, who has won 23 major honors with PSG, including seven Ligue 1 titles, was unsuccessful in guiding the French giants to their first-ever Champions League success.
The 35-year old, who demonstrated in the 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich that he still has plenty to offer, is now ready to move on.
“The disappointment is there, we have to continue and raise our heads. Not everyone arrives in the final. The match was decided on small details,” he told RMC Sport.
“Unfortunately for me, it was my last match in Paris. Thank you all for the support, it was incredible. I apologize to the supporters for this disappointment in the final.
“I hope to be able to come back in the future to do something in Paris. My gratitude for this club is amazing.”
Signed from AC Milan back in 2012, Silva has been the heart of the PSG defense and has made over 300 appearances. It remains to be seen what his next destination will be, though he has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea.
