It was a disastrous night for Man United on their trip to face Istanbul Basaksehir in Turkey this evening. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is already in trouble with the lack of good results as of late, but the Champions League was the only tournament where he was still undefeated. In fact, the continental tournament was a surprising showing from the Red Devils. Any major club in Europe knows that a trip to Turkey is always complicated, tonight was no different.
Despite not having fans in the stands, Istanbul Basaksehir proved they are willing to compete against any club in the world. Manchester United dominated during the initial minutes of the game, but Demba Ba surprised everybody. He moved quickly from his own pitch to plant himself in front of Dean Henderson and score the first goal after an assist from deep.

Ba managed to semi-assist Visca only five minutes before the break for Istanbul’s second goal of the evening. Manchester United was a complete disaster on the defense and the offensive players were scrambled without order. Only Anthony Martial was able to respond in due time with a late goal before the break. Luke Shaw assisted him with a precise cross from the left that the Frenchman connected with a beautiful header.
Solskjaer attempted to make modifications for the second half but nothing worked. The local squad was able to maintain the result for the rest of the game and got a valuable three points at home. Next weekend will be difficult for Solskjaer as his job is in the balance.
