The former Real Madrid and Malaga man has returned to Andalusia by signing for Sevilla in Spain.

Isco Alarcon has completed a free transfer to Sevilla from La Liga champions Real Madrid on a contract until June 2024.

The 30-year-old midfielder was a free agent after leaving Real Madrid, where he had won three La Liga titles and five Champions League crowns, at the end of his contract this summer.

He spent nine years at the Bernabeu, following a €25 million transfer from Malaga in 2013, and now joins Sevilla to embark on the next chapter of his career.

“It is a team that competes, that wants to play good football, plays in the Champions League, and is constantly growing,” Sevilla’s new #22 told the club’s media.

“I want to keep winning and that’s why I’m here. I want to think about what is coming, which is very important to me.”

Lopetegui key for Isco

Isco has already played under Julen Lopetegui during the Sevilla manager’s spells in charge of Real Madrid and the Spanish national team.

He excelled for Lopetegui with Spain in particular, managing nine goals and two assists in 14 games, and is looking forward to reuniting with his old boss in the Andalusian capital.

“He is a coach who has always trusted me. I like his football and what he proposes, I think it’s the most suitable for my style,” Isco said of Lopetegui.

“The confidence he has given me has always been maximum and I have to thank him for that. Now it’s my turn to repay him for his faith on the pitch and show him that he’s not wrong.”

Sevilla will unveil Isco to the fans and media at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium on Wednesday at 09:00 (CET).

The former Malaga playmaker is the club’s third signing of the summer after defender Marcao and left-back Alex Telles.
