The former Real Madrid playmaker signed a two-year deal with the Andalusian club in August.

Sevilla have announced Isco’s departure from the club after both parties agreed to terminate their contract agreement.

The 30-year-old midfielder reunited with former Spain boss Julen Lopetegui at Sevilla on a free summer transfer, hoping to revive his career after falling out of favor at Real Madrid.

But Sevilla sacked Lopetegui in October, and given Isco’s struggles to recapture his best form, he couldn’t win over the returning Jorge Sampaoli, leading to an early break-up with the club.

“Sevilla FC and Isco Alarcon have agreed to terminate the contract that united both parties since the player from Malaga joined the Nervionense club last summer after finishing his spell at Real Madrid,” read a statement from Sevilla.

“The club wants to wish Isco all the luck in the world in his new professional challenges.”

After three successive top-four finishes in LaLiga, Sevilla have struggled this season. The Andalusians sit 18th in the league standings, winning just two of their 14 games (D5 L7) so far.

They will take on Spanish fourth-tier side Juventud Torremolinos in a second-round Copa del Rey match on Wednesday evening.
