Despite his match-winning heroics in Arsenal’s last game, Gabriel Jesus hasn’t got the all-clear to face Liverpool yet.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has said that he doesn’t know if Gabriel Jesus is a doubt to face Liverpool on Sunday.
Jesus, who scored a goal and assisted Bukayo Saka’s goal in Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest, entered the game carrying an injury. He got kicked and his knee got swollen with fluid.
“I don’t know,” Arteta said when asked if Jesus was a doubt to face Liverpool after the Forest victory.
“He got hit big time in the last game. His knee reacted and it’s the knee he had [surgery on] before. He was super positive, he’s feeling good and he was so sharp in training. I’m not surprised with the way he played tonight.”
Arteta also praised Jesus’ determination and mentality to play against Forest earlier in the week, despite his knee issue.
The 26-year-old striker has managed four goals and three assists in 17 Premier League games this season. He also provided an assist in the club’s 5-0 win over Crystal Palace on January 20.
