Juventus gave reigns of the first-team squad to Andrea Pirlo and it brings another member of 2006 World Cup-winning to the managerial hot seat.

Maurizio Sarri was shown the door and replaced by Andrea Pirlo. The midfield maestro has received words of praise from his contemporaries.

Antonio Conte talked about his great friendship with Pirlo at the announcement. Former AC Milan teammate Gennaro Gattuso had similar sentiments to share.

Gianfranco Zola had words of praise for the incoming manager but was coy about the pressure he will feel. Managing the Old Lady is one of the toughest tasks in Italian top-flight football.

Simeone Inzaghi shared that he told Pirlo that his U23 appointment would be tough. However, he believes it will also be an advantage as Juventus have the tools and players that other clubs cannot offer.

“I had already written to him when he signed with the Under-23 team,” Football Italia quoted Inzaghi. “I told him it would be tough but that starting at Juventus can only be an advantage.”

“We are many coaches from the national team in 2006 now. We all wanted to give our enthusiasm to the players.”

Sarri was sacked after winning the Serie A and Pirlo has his work cut out. His chief priority will be to keep talisman Cristiano Ronaldo happy.
