The Nerazzurri are open to selling their Danish midfielder to a club where he can continue his career.

Christian Eriksen collapsed during Denmark’s Euro 2020 game against Finland this summer, marking one of the tournaments’ most significant highlights.

A heart defibrillator was implanted in Eriksen’s body after he was diagnosed with a cardiac arrest, making it impossible for the Italian side to register his name as one of their players.

The Serie A champions published a statement on Thursday, keeping the door open to sell Eriksen to a club where he can continue his career.

“With reference to the registration rights of the player Eriksen,” the statement reads. “it should be noted that following a serious injury which occurred during the European Championship in June 2021, the player has been temporarily inhibited by the Italian medical authority from sporting activity in the current season.

“Although the current conditions of the player don’t meet the requirements of achieving sporting fitness in Italy, the same could instead be achieved in other countries where the player could resume competitive activity.”

Inter signed Hakan Calhanoglu from Milan to replace the sidelined Eriksen this summer. It remains to be seen which club(s) would be interested in offering the Dane a chance to return to the pitch.
