Inter Milan are closing in on signing Aleksandar Kolarov from AS Roma for a reported fee of £1.3million.
Kolarov, who joined Roma from Manchester City in 2017, has entered the final year of his contract at the Stadio Olimpico, hence the low price.
According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter and Roma have already struck an agreement for the Serbian left-back to swap sides this summer.
The negotiations are in advanced stages, and the experienced wide defender should soon become a Nerazzurri.
Known for his deadly crossing and the capacity of scoring from long range, the 34-year-old imposes a real threat from a left-back position.
During his three-year stint in the Italian capital, Kolarov has racked up 19 goals and 20 assists in 132 appearances.
As such, the Cukaricki youth academy product perfectly fits into Antonio Conte’s 3-5-2 formation.
Despite his age, Kolarov is seen as an upgrade to both Ashley Young and Cristiano Biraghi.
He has a wealth of Serie A experience having played for Lazio for three years before departing for Manchester City in 2010.
Thought by the previous experience of cutting Nicolo Zaniolo loose as part of a deal to bring in Radja Nainggolan, Inter have opted against including some of their youngsters into the transfer.
Kolarov will, therefore, become Conte’s second summer signing following the acquisition of Achraf Hakimi from Real Madrid.
The two players should help Inter close the gap on Juventus in the next season’s title race after narrowly missing out on wrapping up the Serie A crown last term.
But, the Milanese giants are exploring other options in the market, with wantaway Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi also on their list of potential targets.
