A failure to collect all three points on Atalanta’s part means the Nerazzurri can start the Scudetto success celebration a little early.
Inter Milan have won the 2020/21 Serie A title, ending their over-a-decade-long wait for a league title.
Inter were crowned the champions after Atalanta failed to seal a win against Sassuolo on Sunday. Gian Piero Gasperini’s men played the majority of the match with 10 men and were held to a 1-1 draw at the Citta del Tricolore, with Domenico Beradi canceling out Robin Gosens’s first-half opener seven minutes into the second half.
The Black and Blues’ triumph brings an end to Juventus‘ long-running dominion, with the Old Lady having clinched the Scudetto in each of the previous nine seasons.
Much of the credit for the success of Antonio Conte’s men goes to their impressive form in the second half of the season. They had a shaky start to the campaign but went on an 12-game winning streak after the draw against Udinese in January and are currently on an 18-match unbeaten run.
Inter get their hands on the title with four matches to spare, with an enormous 13-point gap separating them from second-placed Atalanta.
