Los Blancos needed to learn how to play with the limited roster they had this season, especially after the failed Kylian Mbappe transfer. One of the players with the massive responsibility to make a difference is Karim Benzema. The French striker was absent today against Inter Milan as he struggled to find the ball inside the box against the Italian defense.
Vinicius did have a lot of activity but he wasn’t fortunate in front of goal, he made some interesting efforts but the defense was brilliant. On the other side of the box, Thibaut Courtois was the man of the match with at least two incredible saves during the first half. Lautaro Martinez had a couple of great chances he wasn’t able to score in a leveled match. During the first half, they dominated most of the chances but they couldn’t break the deadlock.
Camavinga and Rodrygo save the day.
During the entire 90 minutes, Fede Valverde was the top player on the pitch but he needed a moment to seal his great performance. Inter’s gas seemed depleted during the second half and Real Madrid took control of it. Vinicius wasn’t able to score in a few chances he had in front of goal with the defense staying sharp with every shot he took. However, the final minutes were absolutely thrilling for Los Blancos.
As soon as Camavinga and Rodrygo got on the pitch, Valverde finally got his chance to break the lock. He sent a brilliant pass between the lines to the young Frenchman, who assisted Rodrygo for the last-minute winner. Real Madrid does it again, they held until the final minutes and got their reward. This squad may not be spectacular but they are doing the job thus far. Camavinga is already delivering results as one of their most important transfers of the summer.
