The Nerazzurri have returned the star striker only one season after his move to Chelsea.
Inter have announced they have signed Romelu Lukaku on a loan deal from Chelsea.
The Italian giants will pay an €8 million loan fee, alongside other performance-related add-ons. The move comes after the Belgian striker’s disappointing spell after his £100m transfer to Stamford Bridge last summer.
“So we’re going to score a lot of goals?” Zhang asked Lukaku in a video on Inter’s social media accounts.
“That’s what we’re here for,” the striker responded.
“Promise?”
“I promise.”
Chelsea have managed to take Lukaku’s £325,000-a-week salary off their books ahead of the next season. The striker’s relationship with manager Thomas Tuchel convinced the club to send the player on a season-long loan deal.
Lukaku became Chelsea’s top scorer after registering 15 goals last season. However, his struggles to adapt to Tuchel’s system led to his eventual departure from the club.
According to English sources, there is no buy-out option in Lukaku’s loan deal. It remains to be seen whether the Blues would be keen to return the Belgium international at the end of the next campaign.
Chelsea have already started their efforts to find a replacement for Lukaku. The Blues are competing against city-rivals Tottenham for Richarlison’s signature.
There were also reports around Todd Boehly’s interest in bringing Cristiano Ronaldo to Stamford Bridge. But Sky Sports went on to debunk those claims, revealing Ronaldo’s plan to start the pre-season with Manchester United.
