The striker relocated to Italy in the summer of 2019. Two years later, he is being tipped to retrace his footsteps to England.
Inter Milan CEO Giuseppe Marotta has laughed off talks of Romelu Lukaku’s potential exit from the club this summer saying the striker is “absolutely not for sale”.
Lukaku’s future became a subject of speculations shortly after the news of Inter’s crippling financial condition broke out earlier this summer.
It was reported Inter will be forced to cash in on a couple of their key players in order to balance their books, with the 28-year-old named among those who could be sacrificed.
Chelsea have been strongly linked with the signing of the Belgian marksman who scored 24 goals in 36 Serie A games last term to lead his side to Scudetto success.
Manchester City, meanwhile, who bid farewell to club legend and their all-time top-scorer Sergio Aguero this summer, also supposedly have him on their transfer wishlist.
However, it would appear the two Premier League clubs will have to chase a different striker.
“From our side, we can say it absolutely, yes, Lukaku is not for sale,” Marotta asserted in an interview with Italian television channel SportMediaset.
“Lukaku is an important piece on the chessboard available to Simone Inzaghi.”
