Inter secured a crushing victory in the Milan derby to reach the top of the Serie A table.
Inter defeated AC Milan 5-1 in their Serie A clash on Saturday. For the first time in history, the Nerazzurri claim five consecutive wins in Derby della Madonnina.
What happened?
Inter found a fantastic start to the game as Henrikh Mkhitaryan found the back of the net in the fifth minute. Milan failed to pull themselves together after the goal as their city rivals maintained the pressure. Marcus Thuram then made it 2-0 with a spectacular strike from the corner of the box.
Milan looked much improved after the break, with Leao bringing them back into the game with a goal in the 57th minute. However, their dreams of clinching an equalizer turned into a nightmare in the final 20 minutes of the game.
First, Mkhitaryan completed his brace with a precise finish inside the box. Then came a penalty from Hakan Calhanoglu that made it 4-1 for the Nerazzurri. Milan’s humiliation was completed with Davide Frattessi’s goal in the final minute of the extra time.

Mkhitaryan was simply outstanding during Inter’s 5-1 win over Milan. The derby hero scored twice while also providing an assist for Inter’s fifth goal of the night. He also completed 34 out of his 38 passes during the game.
