Inter Milan claimed a much needed victory over Spezia on Sunday afternoon to maintain their charge on top spot in the Serie A.
Inter Milan recorded their sixth successive Serie A win with a 2-1 victory over Spezia at San Siro on Sunday afternoon.
After a goalless first half, Achraf Hakimi opened the scoring for the Nerazzurri in the 52nd minute after a nice setup from Lautaro Martinez.
In the 71st minute, Inter got the chance to double their advantage when Nzola handled the ball in his own box. Appeals for a penalty were initially dismissed but were then given after a VAR review.
Lukaku stepped up to score the resulting spot-kick to make his 11th Serie A goal of the season.
Spezia would go on to grab a late goal via Piccoli in the final minute of the game to make a consolation.
With the result, Inter cut the gap at the top to just one point, after Milan also defeated Sassuolo in a similar 2-1 scoreline.
Antonio Conte will see his side travel to Verona on Wednesday in search of a seventh straight Serie A win.
