Inter beat Torino to extend their lead on top of the table to seven points.
Inter defeated Torino with a 1-0 result in their Serie A game on Wednesday. The Nerazzurri secured their eighth consecutive Serie A victory while sending Torino to 11th place on the table.
Dumfries strikes again!
Inter asserted control over the game from early on as they won most of the midfield battles. Following several missed chances, the Nerazzurri finally scored the opener in the 30th minute.
Edin Dzeko carried the ball past a few Torino defenders to find Denzel Dumfries in the perfect spot. The Dutchman fired a shot past the Torino keeper to make it 1-0 as soon as he received the ball.
Despite Inter’s dominance in the first half, Torino were quick in gaining possession in the second period. The guests had a few decent chances to equalize the game. However, Samir Handanovic managed to keep his clean sheet with several impressive saves.
Having successfully defended against Torino’s attacks, Inter tried to extend their lead in the final 20 minutes. However, they were not clinical enough in front of the goal and they settled for a 1-0 win.
Inter extended their lead to seven points on top of the table, but Napoli have a game less. The Nerazzurri will face Bologna in their next Serie A game on January 6.
On the other hand, Torino slipped to 11th place on the table after Inter ended their run of back-to-back victories. Next up for the Torin side is a game against Atalanta after the winter break.
