Philippe Coutinho is looking forward to the new La Liga campaign as he hopes for a fresh start under the new boss at Barcelona.

Doubts began lingering over the futures of several first-team players at FC Barcelona following the appointment of Ronald Koeman but for some, the new boss brought good news.

A majority of the Barca fans had given up on Philippe Coutinho after he failed to rise up to the expectations following a big-money transfer from Liverpool.

However, he has heavily featured in Barca’s preseason and appears to be set to play a key role in the team in the 2020/21 season.

The Brazilian put on some impressive performances during his loan at Bayern Munich in their treble-winning campaign last season, which supposedly changed the club’s intentions of wanting to offload him this summer.

The 28-year old is expected to start in Barca’s season opener against Villarreal and he insists he is ‘very motivated’ ahead of Sunday’s clash.

“I’m looking forward to a good time,” Coutinho said after his side beat Elche 1-0 in the Joan Gamper Trophy on Saturday night, as per Marca.

“I’m very motivated. I want to work hard this year so that everything goes well on the pitch.

“We haven’t had much time to train in pre-season, but we are improving. We’re getting used to the way the coaching staff works. We still have a week to get off to a good start.”
