Luka Modric makes it clear that he desires to remain at Real Madrid for only as long as he feels to be a valued member of the team.

Real Madrid’s Luka Modric has provided much stability and solidity from the middle of the park to the team ever since arriving from Tottenham in the summer of 2012.

In his almost 350 appearances at the Spanish capital, the Croatian has built one of the most unique resumes in football having guided his side to back-to-back-to-back Champions League titles among a host of other honors.

Considered as one of the finest players of this generation, he also became the first player to break the duopoly of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and win the Ballon d’Or in 2018.

But the 35-year old is now fast approaching the end of his lustrous playing career. It will not be much of a surprise to see him walk away from Santiago Bernabeu when his current contract expires in 2021.

“I go from match to match and then we’ll see what happens,” Modric said discussing his future plans at Real Madrid, as per Marca.

“Of course I’d like to stay at Real Madrid. However, I am aware that I am at a certain age and the club must do the best for everyone.

“As long as I feel that I am an important part of Real Madrid, I would like to stay. When that is no longer the case, I will look for new challenges”. However, this issue is not yet on the agenda.”
