Despite only joining Barcelona in the summer, there are already rumors circulating over Ilkay Gundogan’s future at the club.
Ilkay Gundogan’s agent has dismissed reports linking the Barcelona midfielder with a move to Galatasaray.
According to Turkish journalist Burhan Can Terzi, Gundogan wants to play for Galatasaray before his career ends. There was a claim that the player’s agent and brother, Ilhan, recently met the club’s directors prior to their Champions League game against Bayern Munich.
“The reports in the press these days about Ilkay do not reflect the truth,’ Ilhan Gundogan said, as per Mundo Deportivo.
“I did not meet anyone from Galatasaray before the Bayern Munich game to talk about Ilkay.
“There was no development, meeting, or anything that came to us in this regard. I want to make this clear. Neither I nor Ilkay can understand how this news came about. Ilkay is very happy at Barcelona and is focused on what he wants to achieve there and on his goals.”
Gundogan joined Barcelona from Manchester City in the summer on a two-year contract.
The 33-year-old has since become a regular in the club’s starting XI, with 17 appearances under his belt. He has scored one goal and dished out five assists across all competitions.
