The Manchester City midfielder has praised N’Golo Kante for his top-class pressing work rate.

N’Golo Kante has maintained incredible consistency with his form since joining Chelsea in 2016. After spending a Premier League-winning campaign at Leicester City, the Frenchman quickly established himself as a cornerstone of Chelsea’s squad.

Kante’s versatility has been key to the club’s success in recent seasons. A special blend of game reading and physicality enables the Chelsea midfielder to balance his side’s offensive and defensive dynamics.

In a new interview with Metro, Manchester City’s Ilkay Gundogan named Kante as his toughest opponent.

“Probably someone like N’Golo Kante, just the fact that you know you pass him and you feel like he cannot come back anymore,” he said.

“And then a couple of seconds later when you think you have a bit of space and time, he’s there.

“He’s incredible, the amount of work that he puts into the game, it’s just unbelievable.”

Chelsea are currently leading the Premier League table, with Man City following them closely. The Blues hope to tie Kante down to a new contract, with his current deal running until June 2023.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has made no secret of Kante’s key role at his team.

“Top player, if you have N’Golo you have something everyone is looking for,” the German manager said in September.

“You have everything you need in midfield, you have work rate, intensity, ball wins, skilful play, dribbles, half-field drives and even a goal.

“I see this every day in training and it is hard to believe how good he is. He is a unique guy, there are no more words from me. N’Golo is N’Golo, he is fantastic.”

Chelsea will face Manchester United in a Premier League game on Sunday. The Blues will then face Watford in their next league match on Wednesday.
