The Barcelona striker returns to Allianz Arena to face his former team in the Champions League.

Hasan Salihamdzic has speculated Bayern Munich fans will not boo Robert Lewandowski when he returns to Allianz Arena on Tuesday.

Lewandowski left Bayern Munich after eight years to join Barcelona this summer. His controversial transfer saga saw the club initially resisting his exit back in June.

Ahead of Bayern’s upcoming Champions League game against Barcelona, Salihamdzic has defended Lewandowski’s legacy at Allianz Arena.

“I’m looking forward to the game. I hope we’ll have an attractive game. These are the kind of games you work for every day,” the Bayern director told Sport1

Asked about Lewandowski’s return, responded: “Robert won everything with us. I wouldn’t boo him. The fans will appreciate that.”

Following Lewandowski’s exit, Bayern have relied on a number of different players to deliver goals. Jamal Musiala has developed into one of the most promising Bundesliga forwards, scoring six goals and providing two assists in his eight appearances this season.

Musiala returned to Bayern’s squad in their 2-2 draw on Saturday and scored their second goal with a sublime low shot.

Julian Nagelsmann received criticism for not including Musiala in his XI prior to the Stuttgart draw. However, Salihamdzic says the German starlet’s absence was related to fitness problems.

“He had hip problems so he didn’t a couple of games,” he added.

“Before that he played really well and the coach knows it too. Jamal is aware of that.”
