Kane’s incredible start at Bayern Munich has convinced his strongest doubters.
Jürgen Kohler has praised Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane for his impressive leadership and football intelligence.
Kane became the most expensive player in Bundesliga’s history when he completed a £100m move to Allianz Arena in the summer. The bar was already very high for the English star, but he managed to somehow exceed expectations in his first few months in Germany.
“I admit that I was wrong about Harry Kane,” Kohler told Kicker. “Of course, I knew he could score goals, but he influences the entire team, plays intelligently, and sees spaces. If he were to be absent, Bayern would have a problem.”
Kane has scored 25 goals in 22 matches for Bayern across all competitions so far this season. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Mathys Tel have played as the England captain’s backup strikers this season. But Kohler believes signing a new striker should be one of Bayern’s priorities this January.
“The biggest concern is the defensive midfield position,” he added. “They should sign someone in winter who can also play as a center-back. I’m not as impressed with Alphonso Davies on the left anymore; he was more stable before. There is also a need for reinforcement on the right side and as a backup for Harry Kane.”
