The Manchester City legend scored a last-minute goal to win his side’s first English top-flight title in over 40 years.

Sergio Aguero has opened up on his feelings after scoring one of the most iconic goals in the Premier League history.

An unbelievable comeback saw Manchester City leapfrog their city-rivals United to win the Premier League title in the final day of the 2011-12 season.

A powerful strike inside QPR’s box saw Aguero snatching a last-minute winner at Etihad. The goal stunned millions of viewers who witnessed the Red Devils miss out on the title despite their win over Sunderland.

For Aguero, however, it was a moment of total shock that instantly made him a hero at Etihad.

“Normally, when I was young, when I scored a goal, I always took my shirt off and waved it around my head,” Aguero told City’s official website.

“So, when I scored, it was just natural and I ran towards the corner before my team-mates jumped on me and they were all saying, ‘I love you Sergio, I love you!’.

“I had to tell them, ‘leave me alone’, because I was in shock at that moment, but the celebration was still good!”

Aguero’s goal was the start of a golden era for Man City in the Premier League. Since then, the Citizens have claimed five more league titles, fully establishing themselves among the league’s main powerhouses.

“That season gave us more confidence because we had the players to win the title every year,” Aguero added.

“But that season was the start of it. We won many titles after that, but I don’t know what might have happened if we’d not won it that day against QPR.

“Maybe the next season wouldn’t have gone well and the season after that as well, who knows?”
