Andy Robertson is determined to rise up to the challenge presented by Kostas Tsimikas as he aims to keep his place in the Liverpool line-up.

Andy Robertson netted twice and set up 12 goals to help Liverpool end their 30-year-long drought and pick up the Premier League title last season.

The left-back amassed impressive numbers in 2018/19 too as was directly responsible in 13 of Liverpool’s goals in the season they enjoyed Champions League success.

Robertson, who was signed from Hull City for a mere €8 million, has established himself as one of the world’s best in his position in his three years at Anfield. His partnership with Trent Alexander-Arnold is considered by many to be the best full-back partnership at present.

The Reds recently signed a new left-back, Kostas Tsimikas, to provide cover for Robertson, who played a whopping 49 matches last season.

And the Scotland international, who initially served as a back up to Alberto Moreno at the club, has discussed the competition he will face from Tsimikas.

“I’ve seen him in training and he looks a really good player,” Robertson told the official club website.

“For me personally, he’s obviously in my position and I want to stay the number one left-back. I want to play as many games as I can, to stay fit, to keep my levels high and I want to be playing every game.”

“That’s my aim, I’m sure he has similar aims but we need competition all over the park. It’s my objective to do that and hopefully, I can do that.”
