While Arsenal have already made two signings in the summer transfer window, Ray Parlour insists the Gunners are far from done.

Mikel Arteta wants to sign a new No.10 and a striker for Arsenal, according to Ray Parlour.

Despite no European football for the new season, Arsenal remain on the hunt for new talent. Arteta has already welcomed Benfica left-back Nuno Tavares and Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga this summer. Brighton defender Ben White is also close to joining in a £50 million deal.

Leicester City midfielder James Maddison is reportedly another target on Arteta’s shortlist. The Gunners boss is apparently monitoring Martin Odegaard’s situation at Real Madrid as well.

But Parlour doubts he’ll see Maddison in an Arsenal jersey as Leicester won’t sell him on the cheap and the 24-year-old may not even want to leave the King Power Stadium.

“The problem is the price tag. Leicester would want top money for him and would he want to leave Leicester?” the former Gunners midfielder told talkSPORT.

“I think they will be backed and I think Brendan Rodgers will be backed. If he needs money to strengthen and bolster the squad. I think the owner will say no problem there you go you just won us the FA Cup.

“Whether Arsenal have got the money to say he’s got to be worth £60-plus million maybe more. He’s a great, great player Maddison. He’s really really improved Leicester.

“I know for a fact Arsenal are looking for a No.10 and a striker at the moment and it’s about getting value for money.

“Certainly Leicester might price him out of the marker from Arsenal’s point of view and they might have to look elsewhere.”
