Robert Lewandowski has assured that his current contract with Bayern Munich will not be his final one as he plans to play until 40.
Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski hit his career-best goalscoring statistic in 2019/20, notching up 55 goals across all competitions.
The striker’s exploits saw him win his first-ever Champions League winners’ medal, in addition to two more domestic ones.
The former Borussia Dortmund man has scored 246 goals in 289 appearances in total ever since arriving at the Allianz Arena on a free transfer in the winter of 2014.
Many consider him to be the best striker of this generation while others also rank him as one of the three best players at present alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Having turned 32 earlier this month, it is expected from him, and naturally so, to become less efficient in front of goal in the coming years.
Lewandowski, however, sees himself as capable of maintaining his high levels as he feels a lot younger than he actually is.
“[The current contract] will not be my last. Ending my career at FC Bayern is an option, of course, but I still have so many years to go,” he asserted, speaking to Sky Sport.
“I don’t think about the end of my career. I don’t feel like 32. I feel better than when I was 26. I’ve worked very specifically in recent years to reach my optimal level.”
When asked for how long does he plan to continue playing, the Polish marksman replied: “Ten years? Maybe eight.”
