Things have not gone according to the scripts for the ex-Porto man who was expected to slot straight into the starting XI for the Red Devils.

Alex Telles reminds he joined Manchester United to play while discussing his competition with Luke Shaw for the Manchester United left-back spot.

Telles has seen just 45 minutes of action in United’s last six Premier League games.

The former FC Porto star, for whom United paid an affordable fee of €15 million, was expected to become a first name in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team but has struggled to dislodge Luke Shaw in the backline.

Shaw has been in an impressive run of form this season, due to which Telles has been only limited to just six league appearances so far.

The Brazil international, however, is full of praise for the England international and believes the competition between them is only pushing them both to improve all the time.

“I’m very prepared to play,” he told the club’s official website.

“I’m also very happy with the performances of Luke and his hard work. I came here to play. And both me and Luke really develop together, both in training and games.

“I’ve played and have put in some good performances as well. United benefit from this as well, United the club, because we win by having good players available. And if needed I’m here, ready, focused and prepared to play.

“And once again I repeat that I’m really happy for Luke Shaw, his great performances and contributions.”
