Pedro plans to create a ‘winning mentality’ at AS Roma, with the ‘minimum objective’ being a top-four finish in the Serie A.
After a five-year spell at Chelsea, Pedro left at the end of his contract and signed a three-year deal with Roma during the summer transfer window.
The 33-year-old’s career may be gradually winding down, but he’s far from done yet at the highest level. More trophies are clearly on the agenda for the next stage was his glory-laden career, which has seen him win many major titles.
The Champions League, Europa League, LaLiga, and the Premier League are some that Pedro boats on his CV. His World Cup and European successes with the Spanish national team can’t be discounted either.
So, in hindsight, it’s only natural that Pedro is aiming big as he aims to become the third player to win the Premier League, LaLiga, and Serie A after Juventus pair Cristiano Ronaldo and Danilo.
“If you only aim for fourth place, you’ll end up in seventh,” said the winger as quoted on Football-Italia.
“I always want to win, I even get angry if I lose in training. I think we can finish third or fourth and move forward in the cups. We must believe, even if it won’t be easy.
Pedro’s start to life in the Italian capital didn’t get off to a dream start after Roma forfeited their Serie A opener against Hellas Verona for fielding an ineligible player. Therefore, they suffered an automatic 3-0 loss.
He added: “In any case, we mustn’t listen to the voices that can distract us. We’re only thinking about putting in a great performance, making as few mistakes as possible.
“We know it’ll be difficult, that it’ll be a complicated challenge, but we want to create a winning mentality.
“Our minimum objective this season is to finish in the top three or four. We have a squad to be able to do it, but it shouldn’t be only my objective. It must be that of the whole team.”
Pedro and Roma will return to action on Sunday for their second league game of the season against Juventus.
