The Manchester United forward has denounced social media users who targeted him with racist abuse.
Marcus Rashford received multiple racist messages on social media and took to Twitter to denounce those who have targeted him.
The 22-year-old, a recipient of an MBE for his work to fight child food poverty, was subject to abuse on Saturday night after helping Manchester United seal a 0-0 draw against Arsenal in the Premier League.
Humanity and social media at its worst. Yes I’m a black man and I live every day proud that I am. No one, or no one comment, is going to make me feel any different. So sorry if you were looking for a strong reaction, you’re just simply not going to get it here 👊🏾

“Humanity and social media at its worst,” Rashford wrote on Twitter.
“Yes, I’m a black man and I live every day proud that I am. No one, or no one comment, is going to make me feel any different. So sorry if you were looking for a strong reaction, you’re just simply not going to get it here,” he wrote.
“I’m not sharing screenshots. It would be irresponsible to do so and as you can imagine there’s nothing original in them. I have beautiful children of all colours following me and they don’t need to read it. Beautiful colours that should only be celebrated.”
Rashford’s United teammates Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial were also subject to racial abuse last week following the club’s 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United.
Chelsea defender Reece James, meanwhile, recently posted screenshots of abusive messages he received on Instagram.
Rashford also took the opportunity to thank Arsenal for their special matchday programme tribute for his charity work.
In nicer news, @arsenal thank you for the match day programme, really lovely touch that was appreciated. Although I would have felt better if we’d taken the 3 points.. pic.twitter.com/8FoykqrTu2
