Callum Hudson-Odoi has reflected on a positive week on international duty while also rating Chelsea’s Premier League’s chances.

Hudson-Odoi is feeling self-assured and confident after putting a brilliant shift with the England U21s over the past week.

The 20-year-old started both games for the young Lions as they secured two victories that saw them qualify for next year’s European Championships.

The first was a 3-1 victory against Andorra followed by a 5-0 win over Albania last night where Hudson-Odoi was awarded the man of the match for his display.

Speaking after the victory, the youngster says he was pleased with his side’s showing and also spoke about improving his all-round game.

“We really played well,” he said as quoted by the Chelsea website.

“We showed good maturity from the start and came out with a game plan that we conducted really well.”

“For myself, I wanted to try to get a goal and give a good performance so hopefully I did that. I want to keep improving every day, keep working hard and keep getting good results for the team”

Hudson-Odoi is not yet up to full fitness as the forward is aiming to get back to his full best following a lengthy rehabilitation from the Achilles injury he suffered over 18 months ago.

The 20-year-old will switch his attention to club football where Chelsea take on Newcastle in the Premier League at the weekend.

The Blues are in good form and are currently unbeaten in seven games at the moment. Hudson-Odoi believes further improvements from the Chelsea squad can see them become genuine title contenders this term.

He continued: “We’ve started really well and we want to maintain that,’ he added. ‘What we’re doing well is defensively we’re keeping clean sheets and up front we’re scoring a lot of goals, which is a good thing.”

“We’re not just dependent on our attackers; we’re dependent on everyone in the team and we’re getting goals from everywhere on the pitch. We want to keep building, keep getting goals, keep getting assists and keep working hard as a team and hopefully, you never know, we could win the title as well.”
