Al Hilal have intensified their efforts to sign the Argentine icon in recent weeks.

Saudi Pro club Al Hilal have reportedly prepared a big-money offer to add Lionel Messi to their squad for the next season.

Messi is spending the final months of his current deal at Paris Saint-Germain, which expires in June. Several clubs have shown interest in signing the Argentine icon.

However, it seems Al Hilal are eager to distinguish themselves with an astronomical offer.

According to Mundo Deportivo, the Saudi Pro giants are ready to pay $350 million per year to Messi.

Such a move would make Messi the highest-earning footballer in the world. That record is currently held by Cristiano Ronaldo, who joined Al Nassr on a $212m-per-year deal last month.

The Saudi football officials hope to reignite Messi and Ronaldo’s rivalry in their domestic league. However, Al Hilal have to beat serious competition from PSG, who push hard to keep the 35-year-old at Parc des Princes.

L’Equipe has dismissed reports that Messi has reached an agreement to stay at PSG for another season. The French outlet claims the talks are ongoing between the two parties for a one-year contract extension.

Messi scored in his first PSG appearance after the World Cup, finding the back of the net in his side’s 2-0 win over Angers. The Parisians will continue their Ligue 1 campaign with a match against Rennes on Sunday.
