The Gunners have bolstered their attacking line by adding an in-demand winger to their squad.

Leandro Trossard’s agent has explained how Arsenal managed to sign one of Tottenham’s long-term transfer targets.

The Gunners pushed hard to sign Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this month. But Chelsea hijacked the move with their first offer, bringing the 22-year-old to London.

It seems Arsenal have taken a similar approach to sign Trossard despite Tottenham‘s interest.

Speaking about the transfer, Trossard’s agent Josy Comhair said: “Spurs were in contact with us for the last two weeks. But it was ‘we want him, but wait this, wait that’.

“Wednesday we got in touch with Arsenal – 24 hours later they had an agreement.”

Following Gabriel Jesus’ injury in the World Cup, Arsenal monitored the market to sign a new forward. Trossard’s versatility enables him to cover for Jesus’ absence before moving to a new position when the Brazilian star returns.

Having scored seven Premier League goals so far, Trossard is already the second-best goalscorer in Arsenal’s squad.

Speaking to Arsenal’s official website on Friday, Trossard revealed his favourite position to play at Emirates.

“I like to be in the pocket behind the striker,” the Belgian star said.

“On the wings, I can explore myself as well. I’m comfortable in either of those positions, but if I were to choose, behind the striker – but it all depends on the system.”
