Rob Holding was started for Arsenal as they began the 2020/21 Premier League campaign with a 0-3 win over Fulham.
Arsenal were impressive in their season opener against Fulham. Craven Cottage faithful would have hoped for a better result than the 0-3 thrashing but the Gunners were superior on the night.
New signing Willian was instrumental in Alexandre Lacazette, Gabriel Magalhaes, and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s goals. Mikel Arteta was pleased with Magalhaes’ performance.
However, there was another highlight of the fixture which was missed by many. Rob Holding started on the right side of Arsenal’s three-man defense and channeled his inner Ronaldinho.
The defender has been linked with a loan move away from the Emirates Stadium, but Arteta does not want him to leave.
“I said to him (Rob Holding) change your mind because you’re not going anywhere. Again Rob is another one, he’s a difficult time. And now why I have to let him go? He’s playing so why leave this football club,” Daily Mail quoted Arteta after the game.
The Spanish tactician also gave positive news about Aubameyang’s contract extension. Arteta shared that it will be signed in the coming days.
“I’m really positive we’ll get it done and in the next few days you’ll get some news.”
Arsenal take on the challenge of West Ham for their next Premier League outing.
