Gonzalo Higuain was welcomed to Florida by one of the Inter Miami chiefs ahead of his expected transfer to the MLS club.

New Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo showed the door to Higuain in Turin earlier this summer, leaving the striker out in the cold. He’s since negotiated a $2m release on the remaining year left on his contract.

Now as a free agent, Higuain can pursue a move to any club and appears to have settled for Inter Miami.

Reports broke out earlier this month claiming the 32-year-old was in advanced talks with the American outfit. And with no Juve contract holding him back any longer, he packed his bags for the United States.

Inter Miami official Jorge Mas greeted him at Florida airport and shared a picture of their meeting on Twitter, putting all doubts to rest over where ‘El Pipita’ will play his club football next.

The former Argentina international is expected to put pen-to-paper on a contract until 2022 with Inter Miami. As all three of the club’s Designated Player spots are taken, he’ll sign up as a franchise player for his first year.

Although Higuain may have to wait for several weeks to debut for the club as he waits to have a working visa approved.

His move to the MLS, meanwhile, will also set-up a little family reunion as Higuain’s brother, Federico, plays for DC United.
