Emile Heskey is unimpressed with the decision of Brendan Rodgers to bring a World Cup winner at Leicester City in the coming transfer window.
Emile Heskey is unhappy with Brendan Rodger’s choice of getting back Florian Thauvin from Marseille to Leicester City. The 2018 World Cup winner has been creating impressive performances with L’OM. And brought them back into the title race in Ligue 1. The Frenchman has netted six goals along with seven assists from his dominant right flank position.
As per reports from Calciomercato, Leicester boss is planning to hand out another opportunity to be in England to the former Newcastle United player. As it stands, Thauvin’s agreement with Marseille will come to an end next summer. And the French giants do not seem to have an interest in extending his deal for the near future. Thus, he could be available for £18 million in the upcoming January transfer window.
The club hero does not want this to happen.
The Foxes legend Heskey feels that there is no need to look for options when the club itself has plenty of players. “No, I don’t think so,” the former England international said when asked if Thauvin was needed. “With the likes of Harvey Barnes, (Cengiz) Under, you’ve got (Dennis) Praet who can play out there as well. They’ve got several players who can play in those positions and they’re young.”
“The only player you’re looking at (finding a long-term replacement for) is probably Jamie Vardy who will be 34 in January. For the wings, I don’t think it’s needed.”
