Jadon Sancho has come as a huge source of encouragement for Jude Bellingham, who views his compatriot as an example to follow.
17-year old Jude Bellingham became the costliest player of his age range following a summer switch from Birmingham City to Borussia Dortmund for a fee upwards of €27 million.
Despite his young age, and despite the abundance of talent present in the team, the midfielder has become a reliable player for the Bundesliga side.
He has featured seven times across all competitions for BVB so far this season, with the majority of his appearances coming as a starter.
A change of environment as drastic as his generally results in players taking considerable time before finding their feet, but that has not been the case for the England U-21 international.
As for adapting quickly to the new lifestyle, Bellingham says a huge credit goes to Jadon Sancho, a player who had a similar career path as him and switched between English to German football at a raw age.
Bellingham told Kicker: “Sancho is really very important to me. Not just because he comes from the same country as me or because he speaks the same language. Even more important is how he puts his arm around me, but also around the other young players…how he strengthens us in our abilities, gives us confidence.
“He’s a great role model for English players my age. To get praise and encouragement from him means a lot to me. That helps me a lot.”
