The Sky Blues boss sees a prolonged career for the Argentine marksman, who is set to depart the Etihad at the end of the season.

Pep Guardiola is expecting the fans to pay tribute to Sergio Aguero in what would be his final match for Manchester City against Everton.

Guardiola earlier confirmed Man City have decided against extending Aguero’s contract beyond June 2021, meaning the player will leave the club for free in the summer.

Having arrived from Atletico Madrid in 2011, he has made 388 appearances in total, scored 258 goals, and won 14 major honors during his 10-year stay at the Etihad.

The 32-year-old has established himself not only as a club legend but also as one of the best strikers of his generation as well as one of the best players ever in the Premier League.

“[Aguero] is an incredibly nice and funny person, humble being the legend he is. Being from Argentina and in this country where it’s so diffcult to score goals he’s done it for many years,” Guardiola said at a press conference, via Goal.

“He was incredibly loved by the backroom staff. Sunday’s the last game, I’m sure the fans will give him a tribute to what he has done so far; titles, numbers, performances, incredible.

“He is like a lion in the jungle, he kills the opponent. The last goal versus Palace defined him. He controlled two or three steps then wow. So much speed and then the quality to make the goal, he has this quality. He could play until 40 and score goals.”
