Bayern might have already found their new star winger.

Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has praised Leroy Sane for his improved form at Bayern Munich.

The Bavarians signed Sane in July 2020, hoping for a quick transition from their legendary winger duo of Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery.

The Germany international, however, found a slow start to life at Munich. Sane struggled for consistency, failing to place himself ahead of the likes of Kingsley Coman and Serge Gnabry in Bayern’s pecking order.

This season, however, Sane has stepped up to get closer to his peak form at Allianz Arena. The 26-year-old scored his second Champions League goal of the season after a brilliant run through Barcelona’s backline on Tuesday.

“Ribery was a killer. Robben, he was there to hurt you. At times, Sané would play for the sake of playing,” Henry told CBS Sports.

“You have to want to put up numbers and kill the defender. I see that in his eyes now.

“He’s not the same young kid that was at Manchester City. I think he understood something, but he needs to carry on like that. He needs to learn how to kill and he’s doing that right now.”

He added: “What I like about his goal is, when he gets the ball from Musiala, the way he accelerated and he didn’t stop.

“Sometimes, he lacks composure in front of the goal, he keeps the same pace throughout the whole chance.

“But (against Barcelona), he gets the ball and accelerates, then you need to slow down a tiny bit.

“He slowed down a tiny bit to finish and, at times, he doesn’t always finish well. When he starts doing that, he will be up there with the best in Europe.”
