A Germany and Bayern Munich legend has heaped praise on Matthias Ginter, drawing up the leadership skills of his compatriot.
Borussia Monchengladbach’s Matthias Ginter has been a mainstay and an ever-present figure in the team ever since his arrival in 2017.
The 26-year old center-back dependability is quite evident from the fact that he featured in all of the 34 Bundesliga matches for his side last season.
He is yet to miss a single minute of action this season as well, having played all 90 minutes of the nine matches across all competitions.
Ginter’s defensive abilities were on display in the Champions League group stage clash against Real Madrid wherein he kept the record-winners at bay for most of the match to ensure a share of the spoils.
“Ginter has become a leader at the back, in a similar way to Ramos at Real. He doesn’t just give instructions to his team-mates but leads them as well. He reminds me of Ramos,” 1990 World Cup star Lothar Matthaus told Sky Deutschland, via Goal.
“He’s full of confidence nowadays and has become a big personality. Now he’s taking on responsibility and making important decisions – defensively and in attack.
“Ginter has made huge strides of late, and is only going to get better.”
