Paris Saint-Germain’s season would still be successful even if they get knocked out of the Champions League, suggests Ander Herrera.

A dramatic comeback in the dying minutes against Atalanta saw Paris Saint-Germain book a place in the Champions League semi-finals.

PSG enjoyed yet another dominant season domestically as they completed a clean sweep of trophies, winning all four of Ligue 1, French Cup, Coupe de la Ligue, and Trophee des Champions.

The French giants have an opportunity to round off the 2019/20 season with a fourth piece of silverware in the shape of the Champions League.

PSG are set up against RB Leipzig as they are now just two wins away from getting their hands on the continental prize for the first time ever.

“If we didn’t win the Champions League, it wouldn’t be a failure,” Ander Herrera said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday’s match, according to Goal.

“It would be a failure for ten teams then. We have already done a fantastic job at the national level with four titles won this season.

“But it is true that Leipzig, or Lyon for example, perhaps didn’t expect to be here. We have the quality and the ability to win the semi-final, but we have to know they will play free, without the pressure of winning the game.”
