Dean Henderson has underlined the importance of self-confidence as he speaks in favor of Manchester United’s loan system.
Dean Henderson recently made his much-awaited homecoming to Manchester United after a productive two-year loan spell at Sheffield United.
The goalkeeper earned much plaudits during his time at Bramall Lane as he led the club to promotion to the English top-flight in his first year before helping them finish in the upper-half of the league table in the next one.
England boss Gareth Southgate was quick to notice his rise to prominence, handing the 23-year old his first senior call-up.
He is now preparing for his first full season with the senior Manchester United team, having joined the club’s youth academy back in 2011 aged 14.
Henderson, who has committed his future to Old Trafford by signing a five-year deal, feels a fair share of credit for his development goes to picking up valuable experiences in different environments at different clubs.
“You have got to go out and embrace it with confidence, with the Manchester United badge on your chest,” he told the official club website.
“Embrace every moment, have a great time and I’m sure you’ll learn so much. You’ve got to believe in yourself and want to work hard.
“I think [other players] are always excited to see what you can do on the pitch. They are wondering: ‘How good is this boy? We’ve heard a lot about him.’ So it comes with that pressure and you’ve got to be top drawer straight away.”
