Ronald Koeman has talked up the qualities of Sergino Dest as he eagerly awaits the arrival of his first signing for Barcelona.

FC Barcelona cleared up deadwood in the early parts of the transfer window and they are now understood to be focusing on acquisitions.

Ajax fullback Segino Dest is expected to become the Catalan giants’ first signing of the summer.

It has been informed that a transfer fee of around €25 million has been agreed between Barca and Ajax for the 19-year old, who will commit his future to Camp Nou with a five-year deal.

The USMNT star was reportedly also wanted by Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain but he rejected them both in favor of the team that has Lionel Messi.

He will be expected to fill the void of Nelson Semedo, who switched to Wolverhampton Wanderers last month.

Dest’s move is yet to be officially confirmed, but Ronald Koeman recently revealed that he has already undergone medicals ahead of the move.

“He is going to be a very useful player for Barcelona,” Koeman said during Wednesday’s press conference ahead of the game against Celta Vigo, as per Marca.

“Despite his age, Dest has already played a lot of games in professional football, including some in the Champions League. He is going to have to compete with the other full-backs.

“Having young players is important for the future of this club.”
