The Spanish full-back spent the last season on loan at Real Betis.

Villarreal has shown interest in signing Hector Bellerin ahead of the next season.

Bellerin moved to Real Betis on loan last summer, leaving Arsenal after Mikel Arteta significantly reduced his game time.

The Gunners went on to sign Takehiro Tomiyaso, who exceeded expectations in his debut season at Emirates. On the other hand, Bellerin rediscovered his best form at Betis, playing a key role in their Cope del Rey-winning campaign.

However, according to Estadio Deportivo, he is still keen to return to Spain before the start of the new campaign. The Spanish source claims Villarreal have joined Betis in the race to sign the right-back from Arsenal.

The departures of Serge Aurier and Ruben Pena have convinced the Yellow Submarines to search for a new full-back. Unai Emery is now considering a move for Bellerin, with whom he has worked during his time at Arsenal.

Villarreal use Juan Foyth as their regular starter down the right flank. However, Bellerin’s possible arrival could provide them with a more attacking option.

Arsenal are reportedly keen to have Bellerin in their squad for the next season, trying to improve their squad depth. However, given the player’s interest in moving back to Spain, they might let him leave ahead of the next season.
